My life has typified the event of Peter walking out on the water to meet Jesus. I have great intentions but when the storm gets rough around me... I don't turn my back on God... I just take my eyes off of Him. I let go... trying to steady myself. Instead of trusting God enough for Him to be the Rock that steadies me. I constantly find myself puting the reigns back in my own hands... as if the Creator of the universe cannot handle my little problem. Often times my excuse is simply, "Well, I'm really busy, though." After I realized these things about myself, I wrote this song.
I know what Your Word says, I've heard it a thousand times before
You'll never leave me or forsake me and You've promised even more
But, this burden really troubles me and I have to know what's true
Please, tell me, sweet Jesus... what happens when I leave you
CHORUS
Don't let me let go...
Help me hold to you so tight
I will follow what is right
Don't let me let go...
I wanna feel Your nail scarred hands
While You lead me in Your plans
Oh, Jesus... don't let me let go
Lord, save me from myself, I know it’s to you that I belong
I’m as close to you as I choose to be, yet I find I’m doing wrong
I want to follow close beside you, and wait for You to lead
But, I find I go my own way, oh, hear my longing plea
CHORUS
Don’t let me let go
Help me hold to you so tight
I will follow what is right
Don’t let me let go
I want to feel your nail-scarred hands
While you lead me in Your plans
Oh, Jesus, don’t let me let go.

Beautiful lyrics, Dave, and I can only imagine that with you singing it is a beautiful song as well. So often we make decisions based on how we feel at the moment, instead of what we know to be absolute truth--God's Word. We see in scripture that if we obey even when we don't feel like it, God changes our feelings to be more like His. Praise God!
Dave - hey - I was shocked to see your message to Betts! That's funny! Also thought you'd like to know that Kristi Martens married STEVE Perdue (not Paul). :) How is Chris doing?
G-knee... hey, thank you for the message... and the correction. Ooops!!! :) Chris is doing great. She's living with my parents right now in Michigan and is working for a tree nursery. She's also doing some of her own work on the side with graphic design and photography.
Way cool! Tell her hello for me! I think I'm jealous that you are in "sunnycal" - if that's where you really are. Congrats on the fam!
Thank you, G-knee... I will definitely tell her that you say HI. Yes, California is amazing! I love it out here. We still have the four seasons but much more mild in the winters. Love it! Have you been out here before? How about you... what's happened in your life?
Betty... thank you for your kind words. You are so right about our decisions. Thank the Lord for His patience with me! Are you still singing?
